Liechtenstein Project

I worked on getting everything back on my brochure, but it was really frustrating. It was harder than I thought it would be. It was also a lot more work than I had planned. The most frustrating part was when I was still working on my project, and pages suddenly just quit on me. I had to start over....again! That made me really upset. Hopefully things will be better next time!

What we did today

I got really upset when I came to class and couldn't find my project. I spent so much time and effort working on this project. Luckily we all saved it as a PDF so we didn't have to start all over again. Still, it was extremely disappointing to find that out!

1st six weeks reflection!

This first six weeks, i think I have been really progressive. I learned a lot about using the computers and I also learned how to make my own blog! I have been progressing through this class very well and i get most of the things we do in class. At first, I thought this class would be kind of boring, nut it's actually interesting. I have really learned a lot of things and I know it would help me out later in life. This class I have learned:
-How to make my own blog
-How to create an avatar
-How to make a nice, professional blog
-Netiquette
-How to use pages efficiently
-The basics of using iMacs
-What stock photography is
-How not to use random pictures from google
-How to create a PDF
-What is a PDF
-How to make a citation
-Much, much more....

I think all of this information will be extremely useful later in life. Now that more and more people use iMacs, it's extremely important that you have the knowledge to be able to use them. It's also important that we learned what netiquette and stock photography is. If you didn't know that taking pictures from google that could be copyrighted or taking copy and pasting information right from the internet is illegal, you could end up in a lot of trouble later on. That's why it's good to know the rules of the internet so that you could save yourself from getting in trouble later on. I think multimedia has really helped me learn a lot of things I never knew and I'm pretty sure I will have to be able to keep this knowledge for the future.

Day 5- Liechtenstein Project

I got a chance to look at everyone’s projects today. It looks like everybody is doing very well on their projects! It’s nice to see other people’s progress and hopefully everyone will get an amazing outcome out of their projects. After reviewing everybody’s projects, I self evaluated my own. I think I overall did a good job on my project. Although it’s still a work in progress. Hopefully next time I’ll complete a lot of my brochure! I feel like a pro at pages now. I guess it is true that practice makes perfect!! :)

Thoughts about other projects!!

My 3 favorite have to be:
Taco Talk's Blog https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0ByuByHN_AFlUMjQyZTE1NDQtMzc1Ni00MjJjLWJjNzQtYTM1NmE4ODhmOWQ0&hl=en&authkey=CLOFm10 - I liked this one because the layout was really nice. It looks very professional and neat, and there's also a lot of pictures! The design was also good and I liked the color schemes.

Phamalot's Blog-  https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B9aIgWEtuCXgYjY1ZmU2NWMtZDQzMi00NWQxLTgwNDgtYmFhMTU2OWY4ZTM1&hl=en&authkey=CLP_5aEG I liked this one because it had a lot of cool pictures. It looks professional and there's also a lot of information. It also looks like they spent a lot of time and effort on it.

Pink Panthers's Blog https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0Bxs_cPhXC5L3OWM4ZjY3NTEtZTYzOC00Yjk2LWI4NTItYjQwMWY1NWEyMDU4&hl=en&authkey=CMi3hPgH&safe=on - I liked how they used the different designs and layout offered on pages. It also looks professional and they include a lot of pictures. They included everything they needed to and the overall design is very nice and neat.

My PDF Document/ What I did today

https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B-yY_l0l8tS2NGNjOGY1OGItNWZkYy00YWM2LWE2MTAtYWVhOTI1MDIxMjJi&hl=en&authkey=CK6U9osO

Today, after finishing up what I needed on my project, I changed it into a PDF file. It went a lot faster and easier than I thought it would. The only problem I had was when I changed it into a PDF the first time, one of my fonts were blurry. I had to go back and change my font so you could see it on the actual PDF. The 2nd time worked much better. Everything looked good and you could basically see and read everything. My PDF link is in the link above. After, I worked on my brochure a little bit more. Next time, I hope to finish a lot of my travel brochure done and get more work done and research.

Day 3 of Liechtenstein Project!!!

Today we are still working on our projects. I got a lot of work done today! I finished what we were supposed to complete which were the cover, table of contents, work log, and bibliography. After getting the hang of things, I get much more completed each and every time. Now that I have those done, I can start working on my actual brochure. At first I thought everything would be difficult, but now it seems fairly easy. Next time, I hope to get more completed on my actual brochure.

Day 2 of liechtenstein Project!

I think i got a lot more things accomplished today! I'm starting to get used to the Pages program. Last time, I was kind of confused on what to do, but now I'm getting the hang of it. It's a bit harder than Microsoft Word. Today I finished my Cover page and started on my bibliography. I also started working on my actual brochure, and overall I think I did a good job so far. The project looks nice and neat, and also looks professional. I hope I get even more done, next time!! Hopefully I'll get better at the program!

Multimedia project: Country-Liechtenstein Day 1

Today we made a sketch of our design we want for our travel brochure for our project. After, we take a picture of it and post it. (Posted on other blog.) Then, I started working on my real brochure using pages on the iMac. I think I got a lot of work accomplished today, but I'm still not too familiar with pages yet. I am learning a lot of things though. Hopefully next time I'll get even more work accomplished!

Citations & Bibliography, Free Stock-Photography, and Public Domain Imagery

Citations and Bibliographies
1- What is plagiarism? Any good reasons to avoid it? Plagiarism is taking someone else's work and putting it as your own. Some good ways to avoid it are reading the paragraph and putting it in your own words. It'll be less likely that you will plagiarize.

2- What citation format are we using for this project?
The citation format we will be using for this project are in-text citation and work cited, footnotes, endnote, modified endnote.

3- Create a citation for your 'Works Cited' page of two websites you might use on your project.

"CIA - The World Factbook." Welcome to the CIA Web Site — Central Intelligence Agency. Central Intelligence Agency, 10 Sept. 2010. Web. 10 Sept. 2010. <https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ls.html>.

Manz-Christ, Gerlinde. "Portal of the Principality of Liechtenstein - Home." Portal Des Fürstentums Liechtenstein - - Home. Government Spokesperson’s Office. Web. 10 Sept. 2010. <http://www.liechtenstein.li/en/>.

Free Stock-Photography
1- What is stock photography?
You can use photos without having to pay anything.

2- Why can't we just use random images off google?
You can't use random images because you might get in trouble for using a copyrighted image, so you never know.

Public Domain
1- What does it mean for an image to be Public Domain?
They are images that don't have rights within the country that you are living in.

2- Post a picture you found off a stock photography or public domain site on your blog.

3- Write the citation for this photo.
Group, Horton. "Stock.xchng - Panda Bear 2 (stock Photo by Hortongrou)."Stock.xchng - the Leading Free Stock Photography Site. 5 Feb. 2008. Web. 10 Sept. 2010. <http://www.sxc.hu/photo/947482>.

Country- Liechtenstein

I chose Liechtenstein because it's not a very well known country. It's a really small country. It's also a really interesting country and in 6th grade I remember researching it one time. I was interested in Italy, France, or Japan but they were taken, but Liechtenstein is also a really cool country!

Responses for scenarios- Netiquette

Scenario #1 – A student sends a harassing e-mail to another student. The receiving student
retaliates with a “flaming e-mail.” Is this the appropriate response? If not, what would be?

This wouldn't be the appropriate response. You shouldn't respond to messages that are threatening. You should just tell a parent or administrator.

Scenario #2 – When hanging out with friends, one of the students makes a call on their cellphone and carries on a conversation while still within the group. Is this ok? Why or why not?
This isn't okay because it's rude to multitask people.

Scenario #3 – A student logs on to a free file sharing website and downloads a song they just heard on the radio. Is this ok? Why or why not?
This isn't okay because that would be stealing if you download copyrighted music and other things without permission or paying.

Scenario #4 – A student follows a questionable link to a website and downloads a malicious script which releases a Trojan Horse virus on to the school network. Is the student to blame? Why or why not?
They shouldn't have opened it if it was questionable, but it would be unfair if the student was to blame, because they didn't know.
Scenario #5 – An hour before class, a student remembers that a writing assignment is due. The student goes to the library, logs on to a website, and copies/pastes the information. Is this ok? Why or why not?
This wouldn't be okay because it's illegal and dishonest.

Scenario #6 – At home, a student uses a software package to copy movies and games from DVD’s for his or her friends. Is this within fair-use laws? Explain.
This wouldn't be within fair-use laws because you can't share copyrighted information. It would be like you were stealing it.

Scenario #7 – A student logs into the school website to download the syllabus they lost. Are they breaking any rules or laws? Explain.
It would be breaking the laws because that would be still copyrighting. Maybe if he had permission from his teacher, it would've been legal.

Scenario #8 – Students spend a good amount of time in class creating a web page for a school sponsored fundraiser. However, there website is not usable by certain individuals with disabilities. Was this disrespectful or wrong of them?
This was disrespectful of them because it would be rude that individuals with disabilities wouldn't be able to use the website, but individuals without disabilities could.

Pages

I thought using pages was much more fun than microsoft word. There are so many other things you could do with pages and it's easy too. With pages you can choose from all different kinds of templates, fonts, and other neat stuff. It's really easy to use as well. There are so many options you could choose from to make your paper or presentation look better, or more professional, without having to do any work. I think we'll be using pages a lot this year!

I think i basically got all the things on the rubric or at least very close to it. It was really easy to get everything right for my blog. Although, it was a very time consuming process and there were so many things we had to do. Such as customize, make our avatar, add gadgets, design our profile. etc. I thought it was pretty fun and easy! Thanks for reading  my blogs!!
